WW1 1916 DTD. - BLACK WATCH OFFICERS PRIVATE PURCHASE HELMET WITH HACKLE

I'd only ever seen these in photographs so to actually turn one up and c/w it's original hackle came as a big surprise, even the Black Watch museum do not have one .

Very interesting badge.
It's a rare nickel silver plated brass example and looks like at one time the Elephant and howdah was red and possibly the thistle tops as well ?
This was how it came to me back in the day , worthy of a bit of research.
