WW1 - 6TH ( RENFREW ) ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HLDRS. - K.I.A. OFFICERS BRASS GRAVE MARKER

Extremely rare item.
A temporary brass grave marker to an officer in the 6th ( Renfrewshire ), Argylls , K.I.A. at Beaumont Hamel on the Somme , 15.11.1916.
Toned brass well detailed heavy brass plate measuring approx, 3 & a half inches x 1 and a quarter.
Raised outer lip.
Very clear details, " In Memory of Owen Griffith Davies, Lieut. Argyll And Sutherland Highlanders - France , 15 . 11. 1916 ".
Temporary markers were used for field burials between 1914–1918, usually attached to a wooden cross before the formalization of CWGC cemeteries and stone markers.
This is the only one I've ever had or seen and has been in my personal Argylls collection for a very long time.
I have research on the officer and a copy photo that comes with the much regretted sale. .
