WW1 FRENCH ADRIAN HELMET - C/W PERIOD GEOMETRIC CAMO
Very rare combat helmet with a period applied geometric camo.
There is a stamp inside the crown with, " C C " and an anchor . Attributed to the Compagnie Coloniale made up mainly of ex pats , Pied Noirs etc. and Colonial troops.
Hence the anchor which was used by Colonial units often incorporated into the helmet badge.
The marking may also be for Ci des Compteurs the manufacturer.
The helmet shell has an original block camo of the type used by the Germans but also some American units,
As the helmet came out of America my thoughts initially were it was a black American combat soldier as it was the French kitted them out in French equipment.
Whatever the story and if anyone has a take on it , I would love to hear from them , this is an extremely rare helmet .
Total One Looker .
Flaming bomb with RF ( Republique Francaise ) helmet badge .
Retains liner band and corrugated parts but no leather and no chin strap.
French troops did camo their helmets like this another theory put forward is , it could have been issued to American troops as was sometimes the case.
Whatever the history it's a great rare helmet.
